Corian Countertops

About Corian®

DuPont™ Corian® solid surface is easy to clean and care for. Corian countertops are NSF/ANSI 51 Certified (pdf) for food contact. Corian solid surface countertops are made of natural materials and acrylic. The minerals and resins in Corian countertops create natural and unique patterns to match the vision of your space.

Because Corian is nonporous, stains do not penetrate the surface. Corian also resists mold, mildew, and bacteria growth with proper cleaning.

Features of Corian Solid Surface Countertops

Corian countertops provide many advantages. When you choose a Corian solid surface countertop, you’re choosing materials that are:

  • Safe: Corian countertops use low-VOC materials. Volatile organic compounds are materials that may contain harmful chemicals. Because Corian countertops have low VOC, they contribute to better indoor air quality. Corian countertops do not include toxic materials like silica. You can have peace of mind knowing you’re bringing safe materials into your home when you get a Corian countertop.
  • Clean: Corian countertops resist bacterial growth because there are no natural cracks in their surface. The nonporous materials used in Corian countertops help resist bacteria that may affect other countertops.
  • Sustainable: Select Corian countertop colors use recycled materials. These colors can contain up to 20% recycled materials. All Corian materials are non-toxic; they do not release harmful emissions into the environment.
  • Non-Porous: Corian countertops do not need sealants, waxes, or polishes to maintain their natural finish. This means Corian countertops are easy to keep clean. Liquids or stains will not penetrate or damage countertops. These countertops are great options for families for their durability.
  • Easily Repairable: If you accidentally chip or crack your countertop, it’s an easy repair. Fixing Corian countertops with adhesive or a remnant of the material will also help increase the lifespan of your countertop.
  • Long-Lasting: On average, Corian countertops can last longer than other countertops. Most countertops last 10 to 15 years, while Corian can last 20 to 30 years. In some cases, Corian countertops can last over 30 years. Regularly cleaning your Corian countertops will ensure that they last.

How to Care for Corian Countertops

Corian Countertops are easy to care for; a damp microfiber cloth will remove everyday spills. Regular household cleaners will also remove stains and buildup. As with other countertops, wiping up water as soon as you see it will help prevent a film from forming on the countertop’s surface. The naturally hygienic qualities of Corian countertops mean that the surfaces look and are clean.

Do not use window cleaners, oven cleaners, or bleach to clean the surface of your Corian countertops. These cleaners are too harsh for Corian countertops. Cleaning with non-abrasive materials is enough to keep your countertops clean.

Additionally, avoid heat on solid surface countertops; objects over 110 degrees Fahrenheit can discolor and damage your countertops. Use a heat protection pad or metal trivets if you have no room on the stovetop.
